The 8th Annual Chippewa Valley Farm-City Day was held on September 11 and 12 at Arrowhead Farms near Chippewa Falls, WI. Here are a couple of highlights from our event:
- We provided on-farm agriculture and conservation education for 340 area Chippewa Valley elementary school children and 60 teachers and chaperones on Friday. This experience was geared towards third and fourth graders since they study Wisconsin agriculture in the classroom.
- On Saturday, the day started with a new addition of a 5K run/walk coordinated by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau District 9 Young Farmer and Agriculturist members. More than 40 adults and children participated in the 1st Farmer Frolic 5K run/walk through the beautiful Chippewa Valley countryside.
- Over 800 children and adults visited the farm from 10 am to 2pm for guided wagons tours by Chippewa Valley Technical College Agri-Science students, learned about agriculture and conservation practices at the educational displays, kids participated in a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Wisconsin Farmers Union members, and toured many other special attractions at Arrowhead Farms.
